Championship information

The Heavyweight sprint championship Class 2 is open to new drivers looking to race for the first time, drivers in their second season and regular more experienced drivers who have not achieved the level to be invited into the higher class.

The Races take on the traditional format of – Practice, Three Race Heats and a Final. Minimum racing weight limits are enforced. The Heavyweight Championship is run over 11 rounds, with 8 championship points scoring Finals to count. Each event consists of a maximum entry of 70 drivers per round.

6 of the 11 rounds are full day events, with the Lightweight and Heavyweight/SHW classes alternating throughout the day. The remaining 5 rounds are split into half days. For example, Heavyweights race in the morning and Lightweights racing in the afternoon.

New for 2019. On 6 of the 11 rounds (full days), a SUPER-FINAL is run at the end of the day. This is a separate additional championship. The top 12 finishing drivers from each weight category (regardless of class) compete in a single race to determine the ‘Super-Final’ winner. A single minimum racing weight is applied.

Note: Novice drivers looking to move up to Club100 must attend a Test Session prior to racing.

Weight limits

The Championship minimum entry weight limit is 83Kg. This can include  race suit, crash helmet, gloves and boots.

Any drivers weighing in below 83Kg will enter the Lightweight Class.

The Championship minimum racing weight is 90Kg

It is the driver’s responsibility to check their weight at each race using the CLUB100 scales. The recommended way of achieving the limit is weight fitted to a seat insert or attached to the two weight posts situated by the seat on the Karts. To determine a driver’s weight limit, each driver should include their full kit i.e. Crash Helmets, Overalls, Boots and seat Inserts. Random checks will be made throughout each day during the season and any driver found to be lighter than the required weight limit will be excluded from that race.

Buddy system

Another unique aspect of CLUB100 is our Buddy System. Drivers competing in their first ever Sprint event will have access to a ‘buddy’ driver who will be on hand to assist throughout the day. The CLUB100 ‘buddy’ drivers are more experienced drivers who know the rules in depth and are happy to help new drivers on their first race day. The other advantage of the buddy system is that drivers get to know each other, helping to perpetuate the overall club spirit that is one of the important aspects of CLUB100 both on and off the track.

‘Buddy’ drivers are allocated at registration.

Practice

Practice is 5 laps and is generally used by drivers to familiarise with the circuit and give the kart a shake down. At the end of practice the chequered flag is shown signifying the end of practice and the start of formation laps for Heat 1.

Heats

Each driver competes in 3 Race Heats for a duration of 8 minutes per race. The grids are pre – determined and posted at the start of the day. Drivers will be offered a balanced front, middle and rear grid slot.

Once the heats are completed, drivers are placed into either the A, B or C Final.

Race finals

Following the Heats, all drivers will compete in a 12 minute Final. Championship points are awarded for all finals.

The top 4 finishers in the C Final will repe-chage on to the back of the grid for the B Final. The top 4 finishers in the B Final will repe-chage on to the back of the grid for the A Final

In the A Final, drivers are given 3 practice/kart check laps to test their karts prior to the race and may change their kart at any time during these 3 laps.

Testing

Drivers may want to take advantage of our 30 minute test session, which runs prior to the drivers briefing and racing.
