New for 2020. The Young Drivers Championship is open to drivers aged between 14 and 18 years of age.

The Races take on the format of a qualifying session, Pre-Final and Final. Minimum racing weight limits are enforced. The YDC is run over 7 rounds, with 12 championship points scoring Pre-Finals / Finals to count. Each event consists of a maximum entry of 40 drivers per class / per round.

Note: For the purpose of evaluation, novice drivers looking to move up to Club100 must attend a Test Session prior to racing.

Weight limits

Lightweight Class

The minimum racing weight for the LW class is 70KG. Drivers entering this class must be a minimum of 63KG (including helmet, suit, boots and gloves) to be eligible.

Super-Lightweight Class

The minimum racing weight for the SLW class is 60KG. Drivers weighing below 63KG (including helmet, suit, boots and gloves) are eligible for this class.

It is the driver’s responsibility to check their weight at each race using the CLUB100 scales. The recommended way of achieving the limit is weight fitted to a seat insert or attached to the two weight posts situated by the seat on the Karts. To determine a driver’s weight limit, each driver should include their full kit i.e. Crash Helmets, Overalls, Boots and seat Inserts. Random checks will be made throughout each day during the season and any driver found to be lighter than the required weight limit will be excluded from that race.

Practice

Practice is 4 minutes and is generally used by drivers to familiarise with the circuit and give the kart a shake down. At the end of practice the green flag is shown at start line signifying the start of qualifying.

Qualifying

Qualifying is 6 minutes duration. At the 6 minute mark, the chequered flag is shown. The timing will continue to include each drivers final lap time.

Race finals

Following qualifying, all drivers will compete in 2 Finals (A or B Pre-Finals and Finals). The top 20 qualifiers will be placed in the Pre-A Final, with the remaining drivers being placed in the Pre-B Final.

Each drivers finishing position in the Pre-Finals will determine the grid for the Finals

The top 4 finishers in the Pre-B Final will repe-chageon to the back of the grid for the Pre-A Final and race again. Remaining drivers will compete in the B Final.

In the A Final, drivers are given 3 practice/kart check laps to test their karts prior to the race and may change their kart at any time during these 3 laps.

All Finals will be of 12 minutes duration.

Testing

Drivers may want to take advantage of our 30 minute test session, which runs prior to the drivers briefing and racing.

Awards

Awards will be presented to the top 3 finishing LW Class drivers, plus the B Final winner.
