Dan Underhill, a long time friend/competitor/observer of Club100 is organising his annual, now in it’s 8th year, charity karting event at Whilton Mill in aid of The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in memory fellow Club100-er Paul Lee-Davis. Even though this is not a Club100 event, we would like to show our support for this worthy cause by publicising it and we’re providing vouchers amongst the prize fund and we’d like to encourage our members, friends and family to as well. Come pit your 4 stroke wits against the great and the good, and the frankly ordinary, including former British Champion, superb driver coach, and Club100 tester Niki Richardson, and his rapid, and fellow tester, brother Joe Richardson (oh… they are in the great section, obviously), for this good cause. Indeed this is a not so serious, but it’s karting so it might be taken slightly seriously, but it’s about the camaraderie and the cause.
In the autumn of 2011, a motorsport mad 37 year-old man from Staffordshire lost an 18 month battle with a rare form of Leukaemia. That man was our friend Paul Lee-Davis.
Paul is remembered by all whom he met for being a fun-loving, larger than life character who was truly in his element when competing on track. Having rekindled his childhood passion for karting, Paul competed with the Club100 series between 2008 and 2010.
The PLD2018 is supporting The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), for their research and work in T-cell prolymphocytic leukaemia. Which is the rare form of leukaemia Paul passed away from in 2011. 100% of the money raised in our event will go to the research into T-PLL.?? T-PLL is a very rare leukaemia, primarily affecting adults over the age of 30. It represents 2% of all small lymphocytic leukaemia in adults.
