Alphalive come alive at Whilton
Alphalive take the spoils at Whilton. JEN Racing once again show form in what could well be their year.
Skidmark Racing started on pole for the first race of the day but their time at the front would be short lived. They lost out at the start and were quickly shuffled down the order before getting binned off completely.
All Torque took advantage to lead the class for a while, battling with the class 1 teams in the process. However, it was the charging Alphalive who were the team to watch as they stormed through from the back of the grid, despatching one after the other and finally overhauling All Torque.
JEN Racing and The French Team were in a battle behind the leaders. Behind them, the field had started to spread out somewhat. It had started to spread out at the front as well and Alphalive crossed the line some five seconds clear of All Torque. JEN Racing managed to hold off the French Team for third.
Absolut Citron Racing lined up first in class for the second race of the day and managed to retain their position and showed some good fighting spirit against some of the class 1 boys. JEN Racing had started sixth but soon got swallowed up by the class 1 teams but remained second in class. TBD, on the other hand, went backwards at the start and couldn’t capitalize on their good starting position.
Alphalive were on a charge from the back of the grid and soon got themselves in a battle for third with Skidmark racing. Further back there were battles brewing between Prancing Donkeys, the other All Torque team and Loose Heads.
Back at the front and Absolut Citron continued to lead and ultimately took the win. JEN Racing remained second with Skidmark just managing to hold of Alphalive for third.
Forza started first and managed to retain the lead for the opening few laps, before being passed by the flying Alphalive on lap six. They lost a few more track positions but remained second in class as their rivals got embroiled in battles of their own. The French Team and Absolut Citron were enjoying a “bats toi” for third. There was a tense and extremely close battle further behind between TBD, Loose Heads, Team JAWS and 2T Racing.
The leaders continued to pull away and extend their lead over everyone else, battling for the overall lead with Kristhicks. They inadvertently affected the result of the class 1 team as they got embroiled with the leading battle. After the 25 minute race they crossed the line 16 seconds clear of Forza who were six seconds clear of the battle for third, which ended up being won by The French Team.
Mobile Chicane started grid three and highest of the class 2 teams for the final race of the day. They were quickly gobbled up by the class 1 teams and dropped to the mid field. It was no real surprise, based on their performance so far, to see Alphalive rapidly head towards the sharp end. Having started tenth, they were in the top 5 by lap twelve and into the class lead. Once again there was a big gap to second due to all the main contenders having to fight their way up from the rear end of the field. This time around it was JAWS who emerged from the depths of grid 23 to take a bite out of their rivals on their way to second place.
Once again, the field spread out in the mid field. Prancing Donkeys managed to break away from the rest of the pack and into a comfortable third. Mobile Chicane, JEN Racing, Citron and Skidmarks were next up, with the rest of the field following.
It was another convincing win for Alphalive which left the final result a bit obvious.JAWs retained second ahead of the Donkeys.
Unsurprisingly, Alphalive took the overall win, having taken maximum points. A second and a third saw round one winners JEN Racing take the runner up spot. Third place went to Absolut Citron racing. Their race two win powering them ahead of JAWS and the Donkeys.
