Endurance roundup, round 6, Buckmore Park

Premier Endurance Championship 2018, Rd.6,

Traditionally at Buckmore Park, we either get wet, freeze or roast. Today we roasted. It was great.

With temperatures approaching the 30 degree mark, it would be tough for the teams and drivers in the morning’s 2 hour endurance race. With the season now at its halfway mark, there is still plenty of opportunities up for grabs.

Premier

Tanked Up Racing were on form all day. Ignoring the Triple Seven entry who were testing in order to get some mileage on the clutch, they took pole and won the race by over 24 seconds. Ministry were their closest competitor and came home second. JAM were third in class after a late race exhaust failure for G3Pro. Overdraft inherited fourth and Birel Of Laughs came home fifth after some poor pit stops cost them time. The unfortunate G3Pro dropped a lap and managed to salvage sixth. Teams not having such a good day were CD30, Auditing Armageddon and Apteryx Racing.

Clubman

SoundFP and G3Pro dominated proceedings in the Clubman class and were right on pace with the top premier teams. It was SoundFP who took the win, some seven seconds clear of the G3Pro boys. CKS Throatpunchers had a fairly consistent race to take third place, although they were the best part of a lap behind the leading duo. After a poor qualifying, Racecraft did well to come home fourth but were probably disappointed not to finish higher. There had been some close racing in the mid field and a group of karts crossed the line very close together. Sadly for the likes of Ballinger Law and SMJ Racing, their day would end in disappointment and they finished near the back of the field.

Intermediate

Team JDR emerged as victors in the intermediate class, mixing it with the premier and clubman teams. Behind them, a close battle between JK Rolling and Wildcard Racing ended with a tight finish; JK Rolling narrowly beating their rivals by a few tenths of a second. G3Pro were some way further back in fourth and missing out on a podium finish. Conman Racing completed the top five.
